According to the official reports, two women died and four people were injured in the incident. The suspect is in police custody. No names have been released by the officials yet. The names of the dead and the injured have also not been publicised yet by the officials as they have to contact the families of the affected first.SourceThe incident occurred at nearly 4 pm local time when the suspect entered the Clovis-Carver library and open-fired into the air. Witnesses say that he was just unloading the clip into the air without aiming for anyone specific. Clovis police first responders were at the scene immediately when the call to report the active shooting came in. The Mayor of the city, David Lansford, said that things could have gotten out of hand had it not been for the police’s immediate response and courage. The police confronted the shooter inside the library and he was arrested without putting up a fight or firing any more rounds. He has been taken into custody and is being questioned.SourceAmong the injured were two women and two men. Three of them were airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Among the reports were statements of air ambulances being dispatched to transport the victims. Some of the witnesses inside the library spoke to the media. One of them said that she was in the library with her son when the shooter came in and started shooting. She took off from the library without looking back and in a haste, leaving her purse in the library. Witnesses from across the street report the arrival of multiple police vehicles to take control of the situation.SourceMayor Lansford issued a statement in which he said that the community of Clovis might be small but they are strong and while they are hurting right now, they would be back at their feet soon. The city of Clovis is about 200 miles east of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
