On Thursday, the Madame Tussauds Museum finally brought the wax sculpture of Indian super beauty, Madhubala to life. Madhubala was the gorgeous star that Bollywood has ever got and to make her wax statue there was no better option than the iconic character of Anarkali played by her in the movie 1960’s classic Mughal-E-Azam.

There was a complete research team dedicated to gather useful and critical information about Madhubala and to make the sculpture perfect, they left no stone unturned. The team met Madhubala’s family and read the photos and videos of the actress thoroughly to find out important information about her presence.

Madhubala’s sister Madhur Brij was available for the launch of the statue and was glad for the work. She also said that with her statue unveiled in the wax museum, people will now have a chance to admire Madhubala’s beauty.

“Madhubala lived a short life but achieved a lot in that short span of time. In those days, acting was not considered appropriate for women but with her remarkable acting skills and timeless beauty she created a mark for herself and is remembered with warmth till date,” Brij added.

Madhubala was regarded with the status of “The Venus of Indian Cinema”. In her short span of a career, she gave some big hits including Mahal (1949), Amar (1954), Mr and Mrs ’55 (1955), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Mughal-E-Azam (1960) and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960).

Madhubala lost the battle of life in 1969 to a heart disease when she was 36 years old. The character of Anarkali played by Madhubala is considered one of the most iconic roles ever.

“We were never allowed to go and see her during the shoots. The only visit I remember was to the sets of Mughal- E-Azam to see the replica of the Sheesh Mahal where the song ‘Jab Pyar kiya to darna kya’ was filmed. The set was a huge attraction for tourists,” Brij added.

The General Manager and director Merlin Entertainments India, a company that manages the museum said, “We are ecstatic to be unveiling Madhubala’s figure in Delhi. She is unarguably one of the most beautiful women the world has seen and her aura remain amongst her fans even today.”

The Madam Tussauds Museum in Delhi has over 50 wax figures of famous personalities from the field of sports, cinema, history, music, and politics.
