Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Pad Rashes During Periods

The chemicals that are present in the sanitary pads are one of the leading causes of pad rash. They irritate the skin around the vagina and the inner thigh area. It is caused due to the chaffing and dampness of the pads. The scented pads that are now available cause skin allergies and one of the first things that you should do is switch over to cotton pads. Try to maintain hygiene by changing pads regularly. Some other home remedies that will provide you relief from pad rashes are:

1. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar helps with the itching. Apply it twice or thrice a day using a little amount of apple cider vinegar, dipping a cotton ball in it and applying it over the rash. Let it dry for some time.

2. Ice

Ice is known to provide relief from inflammation and pain. Just take a couple of cubes and wrap them in a clean cloth and apply it over the rash. You will feel immediate relief because ice numbs the nerve endings in the area.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has antibacterial properties and is widely used as a remedy for pad rash. It also provides moisture to the skin. Before going to bed, clean the area using cold water and then apply a little coconut oil using a small cotton ball. Leave it for the night. You can also apply it after you take a bath in the morning.

4. Baking powder

Baking powder will also reduce itching. Take a couple of tablespoons and mix them with a cup of water. Apply it over the rash and then let it dry before washing it off with cold water. Use a clean towel or a soft cloth to dry the area after the wash.

5. Neem leaves

Neem leaves are widely used for skin and hair care. They contain antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. This helps in getting a relief from pad rash. Boil water in a container, add around a score of neem leaves into the water and let them soak in the water for sometime. Take the water off the flame and then bring it to room temperature. Use that water to wash the affected area.
