The actor’s comment came after a Haryana BJP leader placed a bounty of Rs 10 crore on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s and Deepika Padukone’s head. Several other politicians have joined the band against the movie. After the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan demanded a ban on the movie, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh also joined in the merry band demanding the ban on the movie. Shivraj Singh Chouhan went a step further and announced a ‘Rashtramata Padmavati Award’ for those doing outstanding work for the protection of women.SourceWhile all of this was happening, many actors and members of the industry came forward to show their support to the director and the actor. Kamal Haasan was among them when he tweeted, “I wantMs.Deepika’s head.. saved. Respect it more than her body.Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that. Many communities have apposed my films.Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India.Time to think. We’ve said enough. Listen Ma Bharat— Kamal Haasan (@ikamalhaasan) November 20, 2017Meanwhile, Haryana BJP has sought an explanation from its chief media coordinator Suraj Pal Amu over his bounty of Rs 10 crore, trying to distance themselves from Amu. Suraj Pal Amu agreed that he made the remarks in his own personal capacity and was ready to resign from BJP if they wanted him to resign, but will not tolerate any insult to his community. Bhansali, through a video statement, has sought to clear the air surrounding the film, saying he was careful in depicting the “Rajput honour and dignity” in the film. The Supreme Court, on the other hand, has dismissed a petition seeking the deletion of certain ‘objectionable’ scenes from ‘Padmavati’, terming it “premature’.Share on: WhatsApp
